The holiday is over! Three and a half weeks visiting San Fransisco, Munich, Bordeaux, London and the midlands with the Big T and our boy-child just flew by. Now we’re left with residual jet lag, a huge laundry pile, SD cards full of electronic memories — and human ones that have already softened to forget the not-so-good bits and reshape the rest into an experience we will all treasure.
I’m sure I’ll bore you all with my holiday snaps over the coming weeks (months if you let me), but for now I’ll just say “hello, it’s good to be back.”
A huge thank you to the people who have chosen to follow ZimmerBitch in my absence. I WILL get over to your blogs to visit and say a proper thanks as soon as I can.
It’s always hard to get back into real life after time out, but there a lots of little compensations. One was coming home to find my tomato plants groaning with tiny sweet fruit. So excuse me for now; I’m just off to enjoy some.
Oh lucky you on all counts, Su ! π

π am feeling very fortunate to have been able to make the trip (air points used up now, so I’ll have to set my sights on less grand destinations) and to be home again. Now to sell the flippin thing and start another adventure!

Yep; that the plan. The house is waaay too big for three adults. Too much lawn that doesn’t get used by the neighbourhood kids for soccer and cricket; too many rooms that are just perfect for storing stuff we don’t need. I’m a lousy housewife and am tired of cleaning it all. Fingers crossed the Auckland property boom doesn’t end before we get off our collective bum and get it on the market. π

As much as I love travelling, it is always nice to arrive home again.
I liked the line about human memories that soften to forget the not-so-good bits and reshape the rest into an experience that will be treasured. How very true and so beautifully expressed π

Hi Joanne. I think we were all ready for home about two days before we got here. So I’m really glad that we’re forgetting the grumpy bits and remembering the fun.

I’m discovering that anything more than 2 weeks away from home starts to get overly tiring. Unfortunately on some trips – like the one you just came back from – 2 weeks isn’t going to be enough.

That would have been great! We were only there for a couple of days, but loved it and will be back — so next time definitely! It is ONLY at 12 hour flight from NZ π
