Practicing with my new lens. The boy-child told me it has a very shallow depth of field, but I don’t think I grasped quite how shallow until I shot these photos of our fur-baby. Am quite pleased with them though.

He’s right, of course – but so are you to be pleased, Su ! – I wish to all the gods I could take photos of Lui like those.

Thanks Margaret Rose. It was a bit of a ‘mare finding stillness. The lens isn’t forgiving of movement, so I am doubly happy with these. She’s getting on, and I feel that I need to capture as many memories of her as I can.

… Great portrait lens … looks like she’s watching a mouse…!

Hehe. I’m rodent-phobic, so mice and me can’t occupy the same space.

And what a lovely baby. That second shot is especially fine.

Thanks Tish. The boy-child likes the second one best too, but I can’t get past her expression in the first.

Hm. Tends to be a bit one-sided and mostly in the “stroke me NOW” vein.

Nice shots. Someone told me the secret to good pet portraiture is to photograph them as you would a person. That portrait lens helps.

It’s just a known fact. I’m a cat lady and not ashamed one bit. Su, took these beautiful photographs of her cat with her new lens and I think the lens is perfect!
