tony b&w virtual sculpture

Defying gravity. Virtual sculpture, hanging in a digital space. Designed by Tony Gray. Image: Tony Gray.

The same computer-aided engineering tools that improve the design of cars, aircraft, buildings and even everyday consumer goods, can also be applied to more purely aesthetic challenges. This abstract sculpture exists only in the digital sphere. Its delicate, floating form — reminiscent of a ballerina — hangs weightless in a vast studio.

A reminder that good engineering can be as much an art form as sculpture — or dance.

This post was written for the Daily Post Photo Challenge. The theme is weightless.
