Sue, would it be too flippant if I said “What a smashing picture”? Terrible puns aside, it is a beautiful picture. The colour of the egg is stunning and you are right, it encapsulates the fragility of life and nature beautifully.

Amazing picture! Someone who loves nature put the shell on the fence post :). The nest is not necessarily close to this place.

Thanks Inese. There was certainly no,sign of a nest. The shell was in very open ground.
