We think it might be a new tourist attraction. We saw one land last weeken; then two yesterday. They are the first we’ve seen since we were kids and they were fairly common as a means of accessing our off-shore islands. I’m hoping they are tourist flights; then I can book us on one!
Absolutely! We’ve been doing that for the past couple of years. The Big T and I have both spent much of our lives in this city and before we de-camp to the country we’re trying to visit all the tiny beaches and parks and walkways we’ve driven past a thousand times and never stopped at. Lots of fun!
Hehe. I vaguely remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid. My abiding memory is of Terry Thomas being dastardly. Writing that got me thinking that maybe the film inspired the Hanna Barbera cartoon series ‘Wacky Races’ — which my brother and I used to love! I googled it and the cartoon was inspired by ‘The Great Race’ which was made by the same people as Magnificent Men, to cash in on the success of the former. Now there you go … you’ve got my brain kick-started and haring off in all directions this morning to solve a life-long puzzle I barely knew I had. Hope all is well with you in the Kingdom of Fife. π
Lol!!!! I used to love the ‘Wacky Races’ and of course, ‘Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines’, but hadn’t realised the connection between Terry Thomas and Dick Dastardly!!! As a kid I used to be frightened of the Terry Thomas characters! Lol! π
Thank you for that wonderful bit of research! π
And Thank You, all is very well over here in Fife! But still virtually no snow π¦
I remember driving my mum nuts endlessly delivering Dick Dasterdly’s catchphrases: “Curses, foiled again!” and “Muttley, do something!” I guess no snow means no great snow photos, but also no slush.
I can just imagine you driving any parent mad with constant Dick Dasterdly phrases! Lol!
And you’re right Su on both counts, no snow pics, but also thankfully no slush!! π
That’s something I never see in Toronto – seaplanes!!
