It’s a wine I have a love-hate relationship with. There seems to be two distinct styles; one I love, the other I hate. I’m not great at articulating what it is I don’t like, and never know til I taste whether I’ve won the lottery or not. That’s one reason I love winery tastings (and ended up buying a few bottles of this wine).
This time last year I was in Munich, reveling in the snowy landscapes and the chance to rug up and eat hearty food! Summer is so much sweeter when it arrives on wings of hope.
Fabulous. I just opened a Pinot Grigio myself π

Oooo that looks lovely! Here near Stirling, Scotland, we just have More Cold Rain On The Window…

π¦ … but it’s so humid here, cold rain would be very welcome.

Summer! You’re just taunting me.

Think of the humidity; it will seem much less like taunting.

Pinot Gris is indeed great for hot summer nights, so long as it’s not too sweet (for my palate at least :-). If you like Kiwi PG, had that Brancott Estate Letter Series one that really quite enjoyed http://socialvignerons.com/2015/11/04/2014-brancott-estate-letter-series-f-fairhall-vineyard-pinot-gris-marlborough/ Cheers π

Thanks for that. I have drunk a few Brancott Estate wines I’ve liked. Not tried that PG though. I’ll have to investigate! Cheers, Su

Cheers. If you ever make to Auckland, we’ll visit the winery (and a few others). The Big T and I spent a very pleasant afternoon tasting.

Yum! Is Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio becoming the new Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand?

Don’t think so. There’s a lot around, but has bee for a while. Viognier seems to be the new kid on the block here.

Oh, months and months to go til summer over here! But I don’t complain about the grisaille in Berlin, I. Do. Not. Complain.
