    • Thanks. I agree about Hobsonville, though I have to say that of all the (too many) housing developments in Auckland, it is the one that I think is best planned. The schools were built alongside the housing, the coastal area remains open space with great walks, the heritage buildings look like they will be renovated rather than bowled, there’s a ferry into town (during peak times only unfortunately) and there is a community centre and garden. Sadly, the whole base area is now so joined up with the rest of Hobsonville Road that the whole area to Westgate has gone from rural to urban in just a couple of years. Traffic nightmare — like the rest of Auckland.
