I’m spending a long weekend with the Big T in Melbourne; one of my very favourite cities. Here are a few shots from my first couple of days here.

i’ve found a new place i could call home. Faded Victorian architecture and lots of quirky shops and cafes — I love you North Melbourne. Image: Su Leslie, 2016

A many layered place by the looks of it, Su. Have a great time.

Thanks Tish. It is a city that seems to bring change around every corner. I’m noticing on this trip how incredibly friendly and polite Melburnians are; it’s really putting Auckland to shame.

It’s lovely to go somewhere where people are welcoming, but no so good if it shows up home ground.

True. I’m hypothesising about how this change has happened. Or whether it’s (at least partly) because I’m so over Auckland!

Absolutely amazing photographs, Su!!! 🙂 Love them all, but the first two are my favourites – you´ve caught an enticing atmosphere with your camera! Have a great time in Melbourne!!! xoxo

I am planning to attempt something similar on a flat surface. Now I see that it can work. xo

I hope it turns out well. Three friends are going to help me out. Should be fun. Have an awesome Sunday when it rolls around.

Hmmm. These pictures appeared perfectly normal (and quite intriguing) in the emailed notification I received, but here on your blog, they’re ridiculously elongated, despite refresh after refresh. Anyone else having the same problem?

Yes, me! Clicking on each picture shows them correctly. Weird.

Wow; you’re right … clicking on each one somehow fixes it. Thanks for letting me know you had the same problem!

Apologies Anabel, Susan and everyone who is seeing weirdly dimensioned images. I’m posting from my iPad, photos downloaded directly to the same device and I suspect that I haven’t resized the images correctly. I’ll try to fix that before the next post.

Thanks, Su. I’m a bit sensitive about Internet issues today, had someone impersonate me on Facebook yesterday, even engaging in chats with my friends … a bit unnerving.

That’s awful Susan. Hope you have been able to stop them and repair any damage.

Thanks for your concern, Su. I think Facebook cleaned everything up, and hope that they were able to boot the i.d. theft off their site.

You’re so close! Melbourne’s great. I find something new to love every time I go there. Did you stick your hands in the water wall? It’s the tradition. 🙂

Hehe. I was so busy photographing the wall, i didn’t touch it. I think that ever-changing, something new around the corner aspect of the city is what I love. I used to visit more often – when the boy hold was little and easy to take out of school, then the Big T stopped working here as often. Now he’s here most weeks, the boy is a man and I’m already thinking about my next trip here.

Thanks Angeline. It has been lovely spending time together away from all the usual things that claim us when we are at home.

Oh yes! I had the best time. It’s relaxing being on vacation in a city I know and don’t feel that I have to rush around and “see” everything, yet offers so much to do when I am feeling active (if that makes sense).
