As an antidote to the chaos of a weekend spent painting and restoring furniture, I took some time on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning to walk around the neighbourhood. The recent clear and cold winter weather has produced some stunning sunsets and mist-shrouded mornings.
This post was written for Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge, at Lens and Pens by Sally. The theme is nature.
Such gorgeous shots. I wish I had your eye and your skills. I could have used them on my trip!

Su, that first “misty morning” pulls me into its story. I imagine it’s an island waiting for my presence. It’s a painterly mirror into one’s dreams.

Thank you Sally. As I mentioned to Desley Jane, the mist totally enveloped all the boring stuff around the trees. Otherwise it’s a pretty dull scene. Photographing the same neighbourhood over a period of time has really helped me to see how nature weaves mystery and transformation onto even the most mundane scenes.

Su,, these have to be some of the best shots I’ve seen from you (at least that I remember.) So beautiful!

Thanks; that particular scene is normally pretty average. The mist really hid all the boring stuff!

Thanks. It was a really beautiful morning, and so quiet. There was really no-one else around.

Really beautiful images Su, sounds like a lovely antidote too, are you preparing furniture for a move?

Thank Julie. Yes; we’re repainting a few rooms and restoring/refreshing furniture in preparation to put the house on the market. No real time-frame; everything has to fit around when my partner is in the country!

On the last photo I bet there is a huge shark just underneath the water. There’s like sharks everywhere down there. At least that is what I tell myself. By the way, I am terrified of sharks. Just saying.

That would be so funny. It’s a stormwater pond, and is probably about a foot deep. Looking at the shot though, I could almost imagine the Loch Ness monster (or at least it’s tiny, miniaturized relation).

Lovely images. Wish I could trade weather with you. We have entered the hot and steamy phase of the year.

Oh no; I don’t envy you one bit and that’s one scenario I wouldn’t trade. I hate humidity and our summer seemed to last forever.

Yes. Early summer here is wonderful — before the humidity starts slapping us around like a wet flannel.
