Me too, and I hardly ever do it any more. I used to make clothes back when NZ was a more closed market and you could guarantee that if you wore a new, bought dress out somewhere, someone else would be wearing the exact same one. Happened to me so many times with a favourite dress I hardly wore it in the end. These days I confine my efforts to cushion covers, blinds, some craft stuff and now a messenger bag (hopefully). I sew like I do most things — with great enthusiasm and cheer and a bit less skill and attention to detail. π
Ah – I know exactly what you mean with getting annoyed by seeing your dress worn by someone else! Although Berlin does offer so many different clothes shops etc, itΒ΄s quite difficult to stay unique π Just living through this special kind of hell (Dante totally left out that one π ) where IΒ΄m walking everyday through the streets and see my favourite bag at least 200 times a day!! I bought it (a rucksack from FjΓ€llraven) six years ago, simply because it had the perfect size (not too big) and was extremely light. And I swear, I was the only one wearing it at the time! But in the last year or two it seems just about everyone is buying it too!!! Now I try to switch to another but itΒ΄s hard, because I really love this one! Probably I will have to stay this out and hope this mania will cease… π
ThatΒ΄s where sewing your own things comes in really handy, doesnΒ΄t it? π But like you, IΒ΄m too thrilled with the experience to give the right amount of attention to my creations π But itΒ΄s so much fun, so who cares? π
I would change clothes to avoid being the same as everyone else, but I’m not sure I’d give up a favourite bag. Finding the right bag is harder than finding a partner or hairdresser — and at least as important. Hopefully everyone else will move onto a new fashion and you can enjoy your rucksack in peace π
A messenger bag with padded lining. I need something that will provide a bit of protection for my camera and I can’t find a proper camera bag that I like and find comfortable at a price that doesn’t make my eyes water. I figured if I make something, I can test out what works and what doesn’t cheaply before I commit to spending a fortune. Well, that’s the plan anyway. π
Thanks Raewyn. Not very productive. I seem to have caught the cold that’s going around and am feeling a bit meh, and very slow. Hope all is well with you. π
ahhhh – says so much – nice WW – π

Thanks Desley. It is nice to do something different and tangible for a day. Makes me realise how much time I spend in the digital realm.

Oh yes, I hear you. I’ve taken to “paper-planning” in a real paper diary/organiser, and I LOVE IT.

Isn’t amazing how much more effective paper planning is? I still keep a physical journal and do my planning on A4 typing pads. π

Yep it’s awesome. I have a bullet journal for work and an A5 planner for photography etc. I love it.

Haha! That’s oh so true! π Maybe I’ll simply have to invent a new trend myself – after which I can go back to being hopelessly old fashioned π
