          • The first sting was when I was about 4 or 5. I was running through the sprinklers and stepped on a bee. My foot and leg swelled like crazy and I couldn’t walk for about a week. Of the six stings, 3 were awful with major reactions and 3 were very annoying reactions, but more manageable. I think I’m more allergic to wasps than bees and that the three that were really bad were wasps, but I’m not sure. It’s so hard to tell when the sting was a surprise and you didn’t really see the little buzzer. I’ve never needed an epi pen or anything like that, but benadryl isn’t enough either. It usually takes about a week to go from misery to annoyance. So, I’m a big fat chicken and avoid any yard work when anything that buzzes is about. So spring and fall are my main yard work times and I just hope for the best during the heat of the summer while I mostly ignore my yard. 😉
