Art Deco architecture? Would love to see this in colour at some point.

Yes. It is a fab building. It’s been / being renovated and looks so much better than it did the last time I was in St Kilda. I only photographed it at dusk and even the colour images don’t really do it justice. Here’s a link to their website which has better photos. https://palaistheatre.com.au/

No pressure. I’m always a bit nervous about “challenging” people for these things, but if you feel like it, I enjoy your photography. 🙂

I do! I think it’s a wonderful way to interact with the world around us. Thank you for thinking of me!

Monochrome shows off the eloquent design.

Thanks Sally. I loved the bold pillars of light, which really accentuated the Deco design.

Looks quite retro in B&W, Su.

Thanks Janet. It’s an Art Deco building, and is being restored to its former glory. 🙂

Nice! I like Art Deco. Our house in Cleveland had Art Deco touches, having been built in the mid-thirties.

Lovely. A city here, Napier, which was largely destroyed by earthquake in 1931 was rebuilt with many building in Art Deco style. They have an annual Art Deco festival with people dressed up in period costume, and tours of various buildings. One day, I will actually go to it. 🙂

The black and white makes this look like it could have come out of an old-time movie or post card. Very cool!

Thanks Sarah. Now I’m tempted to play with some more edits, in maybe sepia, or grainier b&w. 🙂

Thank you. I love that building. It reminds me of the British seaside — something I have great affection for.

The architecture of the building in both monochrome and color made for a great shot. Well done, Su.

Thanks. It’s a cool building. I love those old seaside theatres. So full of history (and ghosts).

You’ve reminded me that someone I knew wrote a story about theatre ghosts. It’s in an anthology of a writing course I did once. I must find it and read it again 🙂
