Photographers love the ‘golden hour’ whether it’s in the morning or evening.
I’m a morning person, so I’d expected to have more sunrise shots in my archive. Surprisingly, that’s not the case.
What I did find though, is that my morning shots tend to have fewer traces of humanity in them — whether people themselves, or our planet-covering artifacts.
The first photo is so gentle and inviting… the other two with the structures are dramatic… well done.

They are all splendid but really like the framing of the middle one. Beauty on the construction site!

Thanks Tish. I keep finding good photo ops amongst all the development, even as I despise the devastation it’s wrecking on the landscape.

I so much love sunrises but here in the city you can’t really watch it and so it’s not worth getting up early for it. 😉 The first pic looks like God or nature of whoever had a Van Gogh like moment, pouring out this golden orange yellow in drips across the sky and water…

I know what you mean. We get great sunsets here, but there are so many houses around it’s hard to enjoy them. On the other hand, I could walk down to the Barbour for better views; it’s not far, but I never seem to get round to it.

Interesting observation, Sue! I wonder if sunrises with less humanity in them are due to the fact that fewer people get out of bed early enough to marvel at a sunrise.

I suspect that is the case Peter. Although, sometimes when I take very early walks in the village, it seems as though everyone else has had the same idea 🙂

Good to have some morning friends, as I am not one. The middle image is a cracker Su. Such wonderful light. in the sky.

Thanks Jude. I became a morning person because the boy-child was. Now of course, he’s a total night owl, but the habit stuck for me.

Beautiful. Not easy to capture that gold just right on film, is it?

Few really amazing pictures. All are great but the second one is really where I got stuck for the Sun visibly growing behind the city structures.
I chose a symbolic route, my response: https://satyaanveshan.wordpress.com/2018/03/30/rising-while-setting/

Great shots – I’ve stopped taking (so many) pictures of sunrises and sunsets. The real thing is always so much better. I’m trying to just enjoy them as I see them and keep them in my heart and mind.

Mesmerising the dawn’s magical rays,it’s really sad when human intervention spoils the harmony of nature. The juxtaposition of your beautiful photos clearly displays the plain truth, dear Su,Best to you,my friend 🙂 xxx

I couldn’t agree more Doda. We are losing our beautiful countryside under a sea of cement; packing too many people in to space without adequate infrastructure, and then wondering why the whole system collapses. Sending you my very best wishes xxxxx 🙂

Beautiful. How interesting that your sunrises are more “natural.” Then again maybe no one else is up as early as you! LOLAmanda

It’s certainly true that my favourite walking time is early morning, but the village at that time can be a bit of super-highway of dog-walkers, joggers and cyclists too.

Really? Is getting up at the crack of dawn a New Zealander thing? LOL

😀 So many of my neighbours work a longish way from home; very early starts are the only way to get exercise before a long commute.
