I have learned that to be with those I like is enough. — Walt Whitman
Ju-Lyn at Sunrise, Sunset has invited me to participate in the Three Day Quote Challenge. I’m very happy to be part of this; other people’s wisdom often finds a place in my blog and it’s always good to have an extra reason to share quotes that are meaningful to me.
The Rules of this Challenge:
1) Thank the person who nominated you
2) Post a quote for 3 consecutive days ( 1 post each day )
3) Nominate 3 bloggers each day
So first of all, thank you Ju-Lyn.
I have an on-going problem nominating people to take part in challenges.
On one hand, it’s an acknowledgement that I am interested in what you have to say, and on the other, I know that we’re all pretty busy and don’t necessarily welcome an extra “opportunity” to blog.
And then there is my concern that the people I don’t ask might feel slighted … and on top of that, when it comes right down to it, we actually occupy quite a close-knit blogging community and there’s a good chance that many of you reading this will already have been invited.
SO … if you haven’t already been shoulder-tapped and would like to join in — please do.
I for one am happy to read all the extra words of wisdom (or fun) that are sent my way.
i love this one

It’s actually the biggest downside of these challenges. Thanks for the Mother’s Day wishes. Hope you had a good day.

Am I right that Mother’s Day in the UK is in March?

You are. Quite early this year and next year on 31st!

Thought so. It means my mum in the UK misses out because I don’t get the advertising reminders until our Mothers Day and I’m a hopeless daughter when it comes to stuff like that. BTW: best Mothers Day promo I saw this year was a blackboard outside a saddlery suggesting “belts, raincoats and gumboots” as the “perfect gift.” I went back to photograph the sign, but it had been taken down. Presumably there had been such huge demand, they’d run out. 😂😂

Indeed it is enough! Thank you, Walt Whitman, thank you, Su!
This is something I’ve thought a great deal of in the past year, and how wonderful to see it, large as life, affirming what I feel.
Love the peek at these thoughtful sculptures again!
Happy Mother’s Day, Su!

Wonderful quote and so full of wisdom too. You chose very well, Su! And I totally get the difficulties of tagging other bloggers. And like you’ve said I’ve already been tagged, also by Ju-Lyn! 😄❤

Congratulations on being nominated, well deserved. And your acceptance post is also perfect, well said. Here’s my currently favourite quote just for interest sake. If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough. Albert EinsteinOverall, I love Albert Einsteins quotes. Have a great day, Amanda

Thank you Amanda. I love that quote!!! In the UK I worked as a copywriter on lots of quite technical projects (airborne chaff anyone??) and I used to keep getting these gigs because I turned out to be good at explaining things simply. The secret was finding the techy person in the organisation who really, really understood things and who would sit with me and answer all the “five year old’s” questions I would ask. And I would ask them because, as usually the only woman in the room, I wasn’t afraid of looking dumb by not understanding.

That’s so funny because that’s how I learned at HBC when I worked there and I managed to be to go to person for many things that weren’t really in my area. Yay, for five-year-old type questions. 😀

😀😀 why is it so difficult for the blokes. We’d be sitting round a table with some maths PhD talking about stuff other boffins probably didn’t get, and I was the only one prepared to admit I didn’t understand. Then when I got a simple explanation, you could see the relief in all the men’s eyes.

Cause it’s still a world of, who can macho-more! And admitting that you don’t get something is not macho. Sad or shall I say, pathetic in this day and age, isn’t it?
