True, but sadly now a days flying itself is no longer the joy and adventure it used to be, but an uncomfortable and necessary part of getting to the beauty part of the adventure
That’s true. I was lucky to have one of the few seats with decent legroom and no-one next to me. But it’s still a long way from the days of food served on proper plates under a cloche, with real cutlery and linen napkins. And that was in economy!
I remember my parents being all toffed up the one time our family flew together. But there was a guy on the flight from Welly who was obviously wearing his dress Swandri. And who said travel haute couture was dead.
I have to admit that although flying (and getting there to fly) is much more tedious than it used to be, I still enjoy flying overall. Maybe it’s just because I love traveling and I can’t get everywhere I’d like to go via a road trip. I guess I still have a bit of the glamour/joy in a compartment in my soul and I look at it when it’s time to fly. However, I’m happy not to dress up when flying. Give me comfort every time and at least on overseas flights from the US, you still get a meal and free drinks. 🙂
I wish I could say the same. I find long-haul flying utterly daunting these days. I have arthritis in one knee and get very uncomfortable very quickly.

Beautiful! I like flying, especially (weirdly) landing & takeoff. What I hate, though, are airports and the hassle of getting to & through them.

I wish I could like it more. But I totally agree about airports!
