A walk in Bason Botanic Gardens this morning revealed frosted rhododendron leaves and buds, while just a few metres away, red hot pokers made the gardens seem almost summery.

Oh wow! The colours are so vibrant and lovely! It must definitely feel like it’s still summer when such beautiful flowers are around. π xxxxxxx

Love the pokers. Happy Friday, Su, although maybe you’re already in Saturday. I lose track! π

Thanks Janet. I think we only overlap each day by a few hours. We’re maybe 17 or so hours ahead.

I always think that too. But I saw them growing in huge clusters all around the place while I was away.

Red hot pokers look good when they start flowering, but I hate all that tatty brown stringy stuff at the bottom as they grow.

Frost! Looks like a cold winter for Kiwiland. My sis complained of the cold but I did not realise it was this cold. Beautiful photosππ

It varies. We don’t get frosts much in Auckland, but further south — and in the high country — it gets pretty cold.
