My step-mother does a really good job of looking after him, and he has careers who come in morning and evening. On a day-to-day basis, unless he is particularly ill, or has another fall (which happens often), he is very well cared for.
It’s a worry. MIL (94) on her own again (well, useless other son is moving away from the area, so down to us again even though we are a 4 hour drive away on a good day). We were in this situation 9 years ago. Things don’t seem to change…
There is always a “useless other son”! T’s brother is hopeless and I think part of the reason we’re struggling to leave Auckland and T’s elderly father. I am so grateful that my brother and his very competent wife live close to my mum. Otherwise I’d be a complete wreck.
It does rather take it out of you π¦ If you’re not busy trying to organise things for them so life is taken care of then you are constantly stressed that you’re not!
Oh my! I think I’d go stronger than “nice” – simply wonderful!

I think I’d have to stop there too.

… and a bit further up the road, and a bit further again. And maybe a detour or two. That view is why it takes me forever to get home from Dad’s. π

I take it he is okay to be on his own again?

Good to know. Elderly parents are such a concern especially when you don’t live close by.

Yes. I’m the only one of my siblings in NZ, and I don’t think I could live so far away from Dad if he didn’t have good support.

It is indeed, Su! Can’t wait to be in the mountains in less than two weeks, although mine won’t have snow on them. π

Even without snow, mountains are special. You can see why they are sacred in so many cultures.

Thanks. Discovered by accident when I put the cups on the car roof to find my keys. A serendipity I had to try and make the most of.

Not if you’re driving. But ok, it’s more fun to be a passenger.

Perhaps my favourite view (certainly of those I can visit regularly).
