Thanks for doing the comparison, Su. I like all of them except for Day 2 B&W version. It just seems to somber or ominous for the humor being conveyed. Well done on the challenge.
Thanks Janet. That’s a really interesting point. It’s the image I struggled with most to produce a b&w version that didn’t look as bland as the original.
Fascinating. The first one hardly looks different. If I were to say which ones I like better in black and white most, I would have to say the sculpture, the barn, and the leaves. I think the others look better in color, but are still really interesting in black and white.
Thanks Amy. I love doing projects like this because it makes me really think about images in a new way — texture, line, composition all become more important.
Well I’m biased as I said, but flowers are difficult in B&W unless they have a lot of texture. Colour (and scent) are their main purpose in life, to attract the wee beasties. 🙂
You’ve put up some not only beautiful but truly elegant posts! I’m currently buried. I thought I’d be breaking loose by now, but apparently not. What happened to all that extra time that I’d get with retirement?
Thank you 😀
It does sound like you’ve had more than usual on your plate recently 😕 And seriously, it’s one of those challenges that does the rounds, so if you wanted, you could pick it up when you’re ready.
Great that you put them side by side in this comparison! All look wonderful in b/w but some of them even better in colour, like the beautiful roses or the golden shimmering leaves or the beach. 😄 xxxxxxx

Very interesting to see the 2 versions. All lovely images though. Tweet as you would be tweeted is very welcome advice 🙂

Thanks Tish. I agree about the tweeting advice — not a social media platform I use much, but of course it applies beyond Twitter. 🙂

I think the B & W adds a lot of drama to the photos.

4,5 and 7 look good in colour and I’m afraid I always prefer a rose in colour.

Thanks Jude. The b&w rose shot was the one I thought was least successful.

What everyone else said, Su. I really loved them all. The mood does change according to the colour.

Thank you. I really enjoy doing b&w challenges — otherwise I only use monochrome for portraits (and I don’t take many of those). 🙂 xxxx
