Eliot’s words are particularly true when the journey is made in good company. This shot was taken last year when the boy-child and I were on a road-trip to visit family in Whanganui. A-typically for a teenager (but typical of the photographer that he is), he insisted on an extremely early start so that we could experience sunrise on the Desert Road.

    • Thank you soooo much. It is a shot I will always love because I remember his excitement and joy at being in such a beautiful place with a camera in his hand 😂 BTW: I’ve just been to the movies with him and we saw a Danish film called (in English) “The Guilty”. It was brilliant (if a little bleak). If you get a chance to see it (and you like pared-back noir-ish thrillers), I definitely recommend it.

      • I will definitely look out for “The Guilty”! I happen to have a soft spot for films like these. 😉 Thank you for pointing it out to me! We have a couple of very retro-style little cinemas here that specialize on non-mainstream films and it´s been too long anyway that I was in a cinema! xxxxxxx

        • We were saying the same thing. Our film festival is on at the moment and there was a time when I would go from cinema to cinema watching several films a day during the festival. These days, I hardly ever watch anything unless it’s on Netflix 😕 But I’m glad the boy suggested The Guilty. It is a wonderful example of how great acting and a well-written script will triumph over big-budget block-busters, even when The Guilty’s budget was probably not enough to pay for the crew’s coffee on the big Hollywood films.
