That’s exactly what’s happening Peter. It’s a seaside suburb, and they’re all looking for parking to go and get ice-cream or a coffee. Except us — we were trying to go home π¦
π¦ true! We were talking to friends about how more and more we’re staying close to home because it is simply too difficult to get around the city anymore.
This photo I can all too well relate to. It happens every day outside my front window. Alas, the downside of living in the city. But, of course, in this shot, you manage to make it look so much more attractive than reality.
This was Sunday afternoon at one of the beach-side suburbs — mid-winter mind you!! I don’t even want to think what it’s like in summer. It’s even more jammed closer to home, and not quite so picturesque π
The cycle lane on Tamaki Drive is well used, but I can’t say the same about lots of others. We hit some pretty bad traffic jams during our very brief visit to Christchurch in April. Getting to the airport was a mission!!
Hopefully the destination made up for the annoying journey π

It looks like they are all heading to the nearest shopping centre. Great photo, Su!

π¦ Traffic. Sigh. Lovely retro feel to this shot, Su.

Thanks Janet. π I hate that traffic jams (and increasingly bad driving behaviour) have become a daily fact of life in Auckland.

Oh dear, that’s a sad view of a potentially restful Sunday! Too much routine!

Have enough cars idling on a road, and it feels like it could be anywhere in the world these days. :-0

Thanks Yvette. I de-saturated the shot a bit to make it less festive-looking and more boring (which is exactly how I was feeling).

got it – and actually that mood fits the word routine a bit more – so how fun that there is even more routine vibe to this image…

Color! The contrast to your last B&W photo was startling!

One reason I don’t go anywhere on a Sunday (or any other day for that matter) unless I really have to. Especially this month! Great photo though π

π¦ I do feel a bit like a prisoner at times. Even a trip to the supermarket needs careful timing to avoid the worst of the traffic.

Colourful but a bit depressing. Did you see anyone using the cycle lane? Even in Christchurch, there are times when I would rather not drive.

I feel very lucky that I am not a commuter any more. It is absolutely soul-destroying.

This looks like a scene from the movie Back to the Future. Something about the architecture, the color, and the sky…

Pingback: Shopping – Travel with Intent
Since shops are closed on Sundays in Germany there’s no such traffic to be seen around here then. π
