Weβve done it the last few years, but probably need to build some sort of frame, otherwise the trees grow thru the net and everything gets horribly tangled π
Yes. We have lots of plants brought here by settlers, which thrive in the local climate and dominate eco-systems. Many of them are lovely and it would be sad to lose them entirely, but things like gorse are an absolute nightmare, and I defy anyone to say “oh, but it’s so pretty.”
Perfect. Hope they will become delicious plums. π

Hope so; I will have to organise netting to keep them safe from the birds π

Our neighbours used to put netting up in their fruit trees to keep the birds out.

I love the simple beauty of this blossom Su – reminds me of Hawthorn or Blackthorn in spring over here π

Thanks so much. Hawthorn is lovely, but is considered an invasive species here as it crowds out natives.

OK – I assume it was imported from Europe for some reason. In England it’s very much a native π

Gorse – yes I can see how that could be a nightmare! I assume you also have Broom then?

Yep, another farmers’ (and forestry) nightmare

We have the Grey Tree Rat (Squirrel) introduced by the Romans… We Humans do so much that alters eco-systems without knowing don’t we π¦

Sadly true. And these days, we seem to do it in full knowledge and blatant denial of the consequences βΉοΈ

It feels so much warmer the last few days and the freesias are out. That is my measure of whether it is really spring. xxxxx
