I may have mentioned that the Big T loves motorbikes and has one or two (or three) in the garage. His latest is a BMW that he’s making into a café racer (I’ll let Wikipedia explain that to those who are unfamiliar with the term).
It’s very much a work in progress and I can’t get it out of the garage to shoot in its entirety, but some of the parts are rather beautiful.
And I suspect the finished bike will be fabulous.
Regular Random is a photo challenge hosted by Desley Jane at Musings of a Frequently Flying Scientist. Please pop over and take a look; and if you’d like to join in:
- choose a subject or a scene
- spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
- try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
- have fun!
- tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to Desley’s post.
Intriguing how you presented photos of segments of the bike but not the overall machine.

The bike is in a very cluttered workshop, and I can’t get a good shot of it in its entirety. 😀

But I liked using my imagination to visualize it—like a jigsaw puzzle.

Peter, my husband had Yamaha. Once I bought him a Harley but he made me take it back. Trouble is the kids snuck out with it.

😂 The boy-child made it clear very early on that he wasn’t interested in motorbikes (much to my relief and the Big T’s dismay).

They can be so very dangerous, Su.

I suspect you are right – it will be fabulous. Love the colour and love the series. The mirror shot is superb. This series reminds me of a shoot I did in my dad’s shed years ago, just photos of intriguing bits and pieces – oils cans, nuts and bolts, cables. I loved it.

Thank you so much 🙏
I have been thinking of doing another workshop shoot. There is so much stuff in there, but not great light. I’d love to see the shots you took in your dad’s shed. Did you post the. On your blog?

No it was a long while ago now. On my old Canon point and shoot. I will dig them out and post them. I framed them for Dad for his birthday at the time.

What a cool gift. I may have to do something similar with the cafe racer shots for the Big T. 😀

What a fabulous set of images! All looks very clean and shiny. I have never ridden on a motorbike but have to say some of them look awfully nice.

Thank Jude. This one is a labour of love that could take a while. I don’t ride bikes, but have been an enthusiastic passenger over the years.

I had not heard the term cafe racer but I enjoyed the history behind it – more so than the idea of the bike itself! I like your collage of parts though.

The bike is rather beautiful, but I know what you mean. Very Quadrophenia 🙂

What a great project! I wish I could do something like this! Hope you’ll share pics when he’s done with it? And i love the detail shots, you could do a quiz of sorts with them and I would never know what they really are! 😂

Thank you 😀 it would be a funny quiz — I don’t know what they are either (except obvious things like “wheel” and “seat.” 😂😂
