Plump and delicious

I know that black is supposed to be slimming, but when it’s the background, it does rather highlight the plumpness (or indeed plumptiousness) of the garlic, chillies, eggplant and tomatoes that are staples in my kitchen.img_4367Attachment-1

  1. Those photos with their black backgrounds are exactly the type of still lifes I would love to draw. The way the light is shining on those chillies is enticing.

      • Oh, I only meant I’d like to draw something like your photos, Su. I wouldn’t dream of taking your ideas and using them for myself. I do a bit of that kind of drawing, just for my own enjoyment, and yes, I would use black paper as a background.

        • You would be very welcome to use any of my images as a basis for your work. I’d be honoured actually,
There’s a huge difference between creating something in a different medium, from an image, and simply taking the image itself. I have no trouble with the former.
I really believe that creativity is one of the most important attributes we can have, and it should be nurtured and encouraged with as much sharing of ideas as possible.

    • I use natural light and a tripod for long exposures. I don’t really have any dedicated space, so have to shoot wherever I can with what’s available. My fantasy is to have an actual room I could call a studio 😀

      • It’s not at all that I like black best – in fact, the contrary applies to me. When I’m feeling fine, I can do subtle very well, but when it’s dark outside and everything looks unfriendly and I feel ‘I dont know what’, then it’s my call to colours…. And then again, sometimes I go for colours just ‘because’…. it’s really a matter of the feelings at the moment 😉
I do love your ‘view’ – I shall adapt it as of now 😉

  2. Love the contrast and the drama of these shots! And of course the depicted goodies.😉 When I work with acrylics I almost always work with black as a background from which I then sculpt my colours into life, if that makes any sense.😉 Also perfect for starting anew if you’ve made a mistake. 😂
