This time last week I was beginning my last day exploring Sydney; calculating how many galleries I could visit before heading to the airport.
I’m still buzzing from all the art exhibitions and the general noise and buzz of a big city — and longing for a quiet place to collect my thoughts.
I don’t think I’ll be going too far from home any time soon — but an early morning walk on the beach might be enough.
Isn’t the tension between the two delicious, though? The buzz and the quiet . . .

😀 As I get older, the balance has shifted. I can take a lot more of the beach than the city.

I was thinking about holidays this morning as I listened to the heavy rain beating down on my Velux windows. Not sure I have the energy to follow through.

☹️ Just drizzle here and leaden skies. We had talked about going away this weekend (taking advantage of T being in the country for a change), but neither of us had the energy to organise it, and given the weather, perhaps it’s as well.

Well, I have been away twice this year, so mustn’t grumble!

I haven’t been out of Cornwall, but mustn’t grumble either as so many people pay to come here!

OMG – this photo – I’d do anything (well maybe not kill but apart from that nearly all) to be able to do a walk along that beach!

I am sure it’s not too soon to have a holiday at home! If there’s not enough time for a holi-day, take a holi-hour or two. 🙂 This evening, after dinner, I sat in a chair in the kitchen, lights out, and watched the gloaming. It was a holy time. 🙂 Finally forced myself to get up and clean up the kitchen about 8.30.

That is a lovely idea. If it warms up a bit, I think a glass of wine on the deck in the gloaming might be just the thing. Not sure about kitchen cleaning afterwards — that’s definitely a morning job for me when the light is better. 🙂

As we get older, our batteries take longer to be recharged. What better place to do this after a long exposure to the hustle and bustle of city life than the solitude at the beach!?

I’m enjoying that solitude while I can. Soon the beaches will be crowded and noisy as summer arrives.

Your head must be filled to the rim with images and ideas for new projects after this holiday! It’s good that you take it slow now to let the best ones settle and then bloom into existence. 😊

I wish I could say I am feeling inspired, but this last week I’ve been very out of sorts. xxx

I love the city and all it has to offer too. But I, unfortunately, don’t have easy assess to a peaceful retreat-like your beaches when some rejuvenation is needed. Something I need to remedy.p.s. Did you know that ads are now accompanying your posts via email? I hope so!

Thanks for letting me know about the ads. I had no idea. Grrr.
I feel privileged to live near the beach, and don’t go often enough. Normally because I cannot face the traffic to get there 🙁

No problem re the ads. Just thought I’d mention it.
Yeah, I can imagine traffic being a deterrent.
