Given the frequency of their sales, it would be extremely bad luck — or poor planning — to pay full price for anything there.

And in our shops we already see the first very pale and surely tasteless straws….. pomegranates not – but I always buy a few and let them dry. Those who survive and don‘t just foul away, are being kept as decorative natural art objects – they look stunning and awake my need for summery thoughts and warm feelings! I’m easy to pleasy…. 😉

I hadn’t thought of dried pomegranate as an art object. I photograph them when they are fresh — they are incredibly sensuous.

It‘s pure laziness on my side – I LOVE everything about pomegranates but they are hell to shell and the few times I tried it, I had to repaint my kitchen afterwards….. AND they are too costly to eat them, really 😉

Hehe. They are really cheap here in season, and basically just not available the rest of the year. I really enjoy the whole process of taking the arils out. Haven’t had to re-decorate. — yet 😂😂

Spring, though we do get them during early summer as well, sometimes even in winter but then they´re imported from Chile which of course is a no go.

I love the seasonality of foods, and importing them from all over the place spoils that — on top of the environmental issues and the fact that stuff never tastes as good when it’s from the other side of the world.
