Regular Random: five minutes with some sparrows

Photo 18-04-19, 12 15 02 PM

I’m not a huge fan of sparrows, but it was quite entertaining watching a little posse of them brazenly trying to share my lunch recently.

Regular Random is a photo challenge hosted by Desley Jane at Musings of a Frequently Flying Scientist. Please pop over and take a look;  and if you’d like to join in:

  • choose a subject or a scene
  • spend five minutes photographing it – no more!
  • try to not interfere with the subject, instead see it from many angles, look through something at it, change the light that’s hitting it
  • have fun!
  • tag your post #regularrandom and ping back to Desley’s post.

  1. I LOVE sparrows, probably because we have none in France. BUT I also want to share a funny ‚story‘ about those little thingies. On Easter morning, in a church service, my (Swiss, French spoken) Hero Husband wanted to refer to the ‚sacrificial lambs and lower animals‘ the jews killed to mark their door frames, but because HH is also dyslexic, he spoke about ‚boeufs & moineaux‘ (oxen & sparrows) instead of ‚agneaux‘ (lambs)….. this must be my personal best ‚use of the wrong word‘ – and I‘ll never see another moineau – sparrow in the same light!
I just find their ‚joie de vivre‘, their reckless abundance in their short lives, their bold cheerful little eyes and chilping so enchanting!!! We have lost much of our enthusiasm and ‚élan‘ / energy along the way and the little bundles of joy can teach us much…..
Sorry for this ‚novel‘ – you gave me really joy with this post and those lovely, lovely photos. Bless you !

  2. Aw, I love little sparrows, they are such sociable birds. I get a lot in my garden and love to see them squabble over the food, bathe in the water and chatter in the trees. I think they have gone off to nest at the moment though as I haven’t seen many in recent days. Lovely photos Su.

  3. Su, these pics are sooo beautiful. You only spent 5 minutes with these cuties and, yet, were able to capture their Joie de vivre so well. We have lots of sparrows around here and I admit I do like watching them. They make me smile.

  4. Aww – so cute! I think sparrows are totally underestimated as photo subjects, just look at these cheeky little cuties! And somehow yours look much cleverer than ours! 😂 Maybe it was the food? 😉
