My phone has been pinging all day with wild weather alerts. It has been wet and windy here, but apparently over much of New Zealand high winds, lightening strikes and massive rainfalls have caused havoc.
There is more to come apparently.

Thanks Deb. We’re in the lull before the next front, so I’m enjoying the brief sunshine.

Su it’s about 12’C and rainy here today. If we were near the lake I’m sure it would be quite rough too.

It’s been strange weather. I hope the summer isn’t like this.

Been reasonably quiet here in Whanganui Su – just rain. Love that image!

That’s good to hear Maureen. Hopefully the next front will not cause any more damage.

The sea is quite rough today more than yesterday on the Coromandel coast. As our housesit is right on the edge of the ocean, the waves are coming up onto the property. Definitely, have that feeling of being on a boat 🙂

We are perfectly safe, I just find it amusing when staring outside and I see the waves crashing down 15 metres away. Great for a holiday not so sure I would love to own property this close to the shore in the era of global warming.

🙁 true. I suspect if we stay in our house long enough, it will become coastal property.

On the positive your house price may increase at the same time as the water level 🙂

Thanks Amy. The last front skirted by us, so I’m hoping the next one will do the same. Preferably by heading out to sea as quickly as possible.

We’re also having windy weather, but not being on the coast its not as photogenic. Stay safe!

Thanks so much Lois. The rain has been quite heavy, but there’s less wind than anticipated.

We’ve been dying for rain Su and finally got a nice storm last night. For us it was very welcome! Your waves look amazing!

Hope you get enough rain, and that it does actually soak in to the land and not just run off.

yes, that IS wild – and reminds me (fondly) of my time at the ‘soft’ sea of South Western England, when the waters broke across their shielding (not so) wall and swept over the street following the shore and ‘drowning’ a ‘holy ancient place’ the other side. So powerful and we tiny humans have nothing to say or add! Love it!

We get that sort of flooding sometimes when king tides coincide with a storm. Of course that are t that many “ancient holy places” here — at least not in European cultures. 😀

Sunny at the moment but still awfully windy, might risk a drive to the Lizard though.

Horrendously windy here, and miserable driving; take care.
