The first six months of 2019 were the driest on record in Auckland, and now August is looking like being the wettest — with rain on 19 of 23 days, and more to come.
I’ve stopped worrying about parched soil and the water level in our tank, but I think I might need some taller gumboots (wellies, rain boots, Regenstiefel, botas de lluvia; whatever they’re called in your part of the world).
And of course raindrops on flower petals are rather pretty.

Yes, always look at the beauty….. In Switzerland it‘s the exact translation of gumboots: Gummistiefel….. 🙂

I love the sound of that word. I might have to start using it.

Thanks Amy: a full water tank, and pretty flower shots make up for a lot.

That flower has to be small for a rain drop like that Su.

Thanks. 😀 At least rain means a full water tank, so there is an up-side.

The images are beautiful. I had no idea manuka flowers were so tiny. And, let’s hope you see some sunshine soon.

Thank you. It’s sunny here this morning, but I haven’t looked out my office window yet to see if there are clouds over the Waitakeres.

It having been so dry for so long sounds a lot like Germany these days… it troubles me to think about it for too long though. It was fun to read a German word in your post – and Spanish too! 😄 I’m not quite sure though most Spanish people in the south know what rain is. 😉 In Andalusia it rains for about 2 or 3 weeks throughout the year!

I worry about drought too; and I live in one of the wetter parts of the country. Driving through some parts of NZ has become quite distressing. And yet, we continue to squander our water resources ☹️
I hadn’t really thought about how dry much of Spain is. When I think of Spanish as a language, it’s more as spoken in South and Central America.

It’s the same here, people spare no thoughts about our water reservoirs getting lower and lower, and our forests to burn up. 😦
I think I tend to think more of Spain because it’s closer and where I’ve been to already. 🙂

… and the language is called Spanish … so you’re being much more logical. 🙂
