Beautiful depth and color Su. :). I rented a 105mm macro over the weekend only to find that over a 2 hour period it was too heavy. My arthritic hands ached, as did my ribs and back from leaning towards the butterflies, bees, etc. Plus it seems I don’t really know how to use it. For all of that, none of the images were clear and sharp. :(. Back to the camera store to see what else might work for me. Do you have any suggestions?
I’m sorry to hear it was a disappointing experience Hannah. ☹️ you might find a tripod will help enormously. It will solve the weight problem, and provide much more stability. It is really difficult to shoot hand-held macros unless you can get a really fast shutter speed.
Ah. Thanks! I definitely did not prioritize the shutter speed. And I didn’t have a tripod. Both of those things would explain why none of the shots were sharp. Thanks Su.

I don’t have a macro (yet) but agree with Su, a tripod will definitely solve this problem. 😊 I already get neck and arm pains when holding my normal lense for too long and can imagine how much more difficult the heavier gear must be to handle! Nevertheless I’m lusting for a nice tele lens! 😄

Funny! Just this morning I read another post from a lady living in Florida about the bottlebrush tree. This tree with its gorgeous flowers must grow in milder climate zones. Great close-up, Su!

I have three tripods and I never use any of them. I do, however, have some VERY fast macro lenses.

That’s typical! I have that a lot with bees and bumblebees at the moment! 😀 Everytime I go the get my camera they’re getting off as soon as it’s on! 😀
