You realise how isolated New Zealander when you can stand on an east coast beach and know that the nearest landmass beyond the horizon is Chile.

Wow! That’s amazing. I looked to see how far it is from the east coast of the US to the west coast of Great Britain and its about 2/3 that distance, but, of course, we have a whole continent behind us!

😀 whereas at NZ’s widest point, there is 450km of land between the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea.

It’s about 9000km from Dunedin in New Zealand to Santiago in Chile.
