I’d been looking forward to inviting you all to my next virtual tea party, but I have a cold. So instead of baking goodies and tasting teas, I’m on the couch with a hot lemon drink, a box of tissues and stack of food magazines.
I may not be able to taste anything, but I can still look at the pictures.
Oh well, I’ll try again next Tuesday. Hope you can join me.
Get better soon. Colds are no fun.

Lemon, honey, and a side of homemade chicken soup. Feel better quickly!

Thanks Marilyn. When T had it a few days ago, I made him chicken soup. That’s eaten, and he’s showing no sign of returning the favour. 😐

Oh no, Su. I commiserate. Mine was a shocker recently but short and sharp. I hope your’s will respond quickly to tea and rest.
PS. I had my surgery today and am home now.

I couldn’t have come anyway, as I am busy preparing my international move. But I have time to wish you a speedy recovery and ample time for your magazines and books.

Thanks Lois. It’s a good way to spend an afternoon; but preferably without the sore throat and runny nose.

Thanks Peter. It will have to be virtual rum too. 😂

I’m on the hot lemon and honey too 🙂 🙂 Snuck up on me overnight, but it was a lovely morning so I had a bit of a stroll before subsiding.

Su, how on earth did you manage to have a cold during summer? Didn’t you tell “the bug” it was far too early! Look after yourself.

T brought it home from a business trip to Adelaide. I really preferred it when he just picked up some duty-free 🤣

Hahaha, well duty free is less annoying and usually more pleasurable 🙂

There’s a point! I think a sniff of the hardstuff would have me on my knees now let alone drinking it 🙂

I raise a cup in your honor. I’m celebrating NOT catching my son’s case of flu. He was felled for a week. It was the best week of sleep I got because the cold medicine knocked him totally unconscious! I will hope your cold medicine does the same for you! Until then, snuggle deep and dream of hot tea and crisp biscuits in your future.

Thanks so much. I’m glad you didn’t get your son’s flu too — and the sleep was a bonus!
I’m medicating with vitamin C, honey drinks and rest. Seems to work best for me.

I was just reading up on Still Life Photography this morning and had an Aha! moment when I opened your post. You take lovely and communicative Still Lifes! I am progressing with Food & Found Objects, but I have a long way to go with the intentionality that goes with composing a still life. Ah well! all part of the learning process.
Looking forward to the Tea Party next week!

Thanks Ju-Lyn. Me too. I have so many “sweet treat” ideas, I don’t know where to start. T has offered to be my advance taster — so noble!
I love still-life photography but composing shots drives me crazy. I have got better at thinking them through (not putting too much in the frame, composition, etc), but I still look at them and wonder why I didn’t see obvious things that make me go back and shoot it all again. Sigh.

Isn’t it wonderful & supportive of our family to help us out with our culinary adventures? I don’t think i could do it otherwise – as it is, I have to share out our bakes with friends as we can’t eat them fast enough …
Art-making is quite a challenge – I think the artist/perfectionist in us always strives to do better. And as soon as we think we are done, there is always something else we didn’t see/think about. The number of times I want to take something back after it has been published ….

Now the boy-child has left home, I bake much less often. T does his best, but even his appetite for sweet treats is limited.

That is a challenge, Su, which our household faces as well. We give away as much as we can, but we can only fob off so much on our neighbours and friends!

Ain’t that the truth.
There is a charity here called Good Bitches Baking which organises keen home bakers to make treats for people who need them — such as in women’s refuges, hospitals, retirement homes. I really should sign up to it!

That would be such a super charity to contribute to – plus a good home for your baked treats!
