The rain has finally arrived and I expect to see more plants flowering in the days ahead. For now, I’m really happy to see flowers on the tomato plants — especially as the fruit is so sweet.

Hope so. We’ve only got tomatoes in pots this year, so the numbers have been quite small

Isn’t it a bit late for tomatoes? Mine did in fact carry on late into autumn, but usually they have finished by August. I’m not going to grow as many this year, but I do like to pick tomatoes from the vine, they are so much more sweet and tasty.

We tend to get tomatoes and peppers well into autumn. It’s still 22-25 degrees during the day here.

I haven’t planted a garden in years but am thinking of it this spring. Maybe a small one on my deck. Just feeling the need to my hands back in the dirt . . .

There is quite a lot of evidence that gardening (even if it’s tending a couple of pot plants) is good for our mental health. And you get fresh food and environmental benefits. Garden centres here are running out of seedlings, seeds, etc as people look for ways to improve food security and spend their newly acquired time at home.

Are these tomato flowers? They are so pretty!
We have only had a couple of tomato plants, which only flowered and produced a couple of fruit each – I don’t recall our flowers so beautiful!

They are really tiny — so when other flowers are around, tomato flowers don’t really catch the eye. We don’t have much else flowering at the moment, and am trying to find beauty and hope wherever I can.

I hear you. Sometimes when there is so much going on, it is easy to miss the little awesome things that happen. It is a good exercise to find the joy in the obscure – I find it helps me refocus.
