I still have a cupboard full of cookbooks, with all those beautiful and inspirational photos. But have to admit when in a hurry for inspiration I click onto βTasteβ on the computer
The perfect response to “imagination” Su! Personally I’m more looking forward to having others cook for me!! I’m not used to so many meals at home :-). Fortunately my husband happily shares that responsibility so it’s not all bad LOL
I have a few cook books and a large lever arch folder full of recipes that I have collected, but I still generally make the same things although a fairly large range! I really like the sound of the book ‘Take a Vine Ripened Tomato’ π
That book is a gem! Itβs written by a Kiwi food writer married to an Italian. Itβs simple Mediterranean food for a NZ pantry and probably one of the few books I actually cook from β rather than use as inspiration.
Are you still avoiding carbs? Was going to mention that T has got excited about making pasta and itβs really rather good. But perhaps I shouldnβt … π¬
Not avoiding entirely now, but limit pasta to twice a month, and no rice. Bread twice a week. I think I need to stop drinking wine for a while, that’s where all my calories come from π·π
I could do without pasta fairly easily (though I do like Tβs homemade) but bread and rice are so woven into my diet. I love curries and canβt imagine them without a little bit of rice or naan.
Ooh; does sound good. I have a friend who makes a cauli tabbouleh which is wonderful, and I really should try it as “rice.” Cauli tends to be a bit expensive here and my (long-ago) attempt at growing it was, er, unsuccessful
Hehe. NZ has moved down a level of lockdown and we can get takeaway food. aApparently the queues outside McDonalds branches are huge. I canβt believe that people could actually crave something like that enough to queue. π€¨
I don’t care for queues myself … so I feel you! Hope the F&C opens soon. We just received news that some services will be slowly reopening in the month ahead.
Hey I saw you content and it’s awsome

A lovely inspirational shot, Su. And it’s a perfect image to fit with my #acoffeeand a book series – which sometimes strays to an apΓ©ro instead go coffee π
Happy entertaining when the time returns!

Definitely lots of great inspiration online β the quality of the recipes is really random though.

It will be nice to eat in restaurants again, but cooking is my happy place so being able to feed my loved ones again will be a blessing

It’s a good time to practice Su. Surely there will be some good recipes in those books and when you find a good one please share with us.

We do a cauli rice as a substitute. Amazingly good. Even as shepherd’s pie or fish pie topping.

About Β£1 each here so not too bad. I really ought to try growing it myself.

We just heard from an old friend in Auckland who drove by a 35 car-queue at KFC!
But I can imagine folks can’t wait to eat a meal not cooked at home! Spoke to my aunt in London and she is feeling that way.
It is different in SIngapore – we have been able to takeaway & get food delivered extensively. I think because many households do not cook.

I’m really looking forward to fish and chips when my favourite takeaway opens, but I won’t be joining a huge queue for it.

T went out for fish and chips last night, so we had a picnic on the living room floor. It felt like a celebration of something.
