Of course it’s a lovely, moody shot and quite wonderful. But is the piano yours is the question that first came to mind. π Oh, would I love to get at that…or any piano for that matter. Not that I’m particularly good at playing anymore, but I still have lots of music and could get back into it. No room for something as grand (if you’ll pardon the expression) as that in our house, even though it’s spacious.
Thanks Janet. The shot was taken in a rather grand old house that is now used as an art gallery. I believe that room — the old ballroom — is used for lunchtime concerts, so I imagine the piano is played often.
My mother in law bought a baby grand when they last moved house, but not long afterwards her dementia got worse and the piano is seldom played. It looks lovely, but I think her old upright actually sounded better.
Thatβs a shame. Our son is the only one who really plays and we thought about getting a piano but although we have a big house, we could never quite work out
where to put it and in the end our son wanted an electronic keyboard as he was writing and recording music at the time.
Absolutely lovely, Su. The light is perfect, the sun hitting the fabric of the drapes shows their texture, and the hints of reflection on the piano and the floor – all exquisite!
Oh! There’s such a story there, waiting to be told.

Lovely. The mood of the photo makes me wonder when was the piano last heard in this room. π

How beautiful, Su. Makes you want to tiptoe and in and sit quietly with your hands in your lap, folded.

We had a refurbished upright when we had our home in Ohio. It was wonderful, but there was no room for it in the Illinois house.
