As Auckland is back in Covid 19 lock-down and we’re not allowed outside the city boundaries, I thought I’d flip through my photo archive each day, and enjoy the memories of places I’ve been and hopefully will return to again.
Taranaki is a favourite destination of mine; not least because it hosts an annual garden festival. The 2020 programme arrived in the mail recently and I’d been making tentative plans to go. Probably just as well I haven’t booked accommodation!
It is good to have these memories and pictures to lean on.

Thank you. I have a well-stocked kitchen, so can amuse myself thinking up new recipes.

I know how you feel. We had reservations at Mount Rainier. Then had to cancel because our county’s numbers were trending the wrong way. New Zealand is doing a good job of keeping people safe and alive.

I’m sorry to hear that. I hope our government’s actions will be enough.

Sad news, Su, because it must have put the visit to Dad on hold again? So sorry! 😦

Yes: another delay. But at least we can speak on the phone, and I know he’s ok.

Thanks Lois. We seem to have suddenly found ourselves dealing with some homegrown conspiracy theorists and “you can’t take away my civil rights with your lockdown” protesters this time around, though. Exhausting!

Do hope this current session doesn’t keep you mooching through your archive for too long, Su. Hope you can still walk around your neighbourhood, which looks far more inviting than this carefully manicured “uniformity,” with every building exactly the same. 🤪

Thanks Del. We can travel within Auckland, which is geographically quite large; but most of the Regional Parks are closed. Beaches are not off-limits though (happy dance).

So glad you’re not housebound again! Beach walking sounds wonderful, especially in winter. I know-I’m weird. 🙄 lol.

Not weird at all. It’s my favourite time to go to the beach — and the only time there is any chance our local beaches won’t be totally packed.

It reminds me a bit of Mount Fuji in Japan, Su.

Very similar shape. It was a stand-in for Mt Fuji in the film The Last Samurai, which was shot in NZ.

I can see why you’d want to visit there again, Su. It’s beautiful. Sorry about the increase. Arizona is finally decreasing a bit. I was blessed to be able to get to Wyoming and spend over three weeks there, one with our daughters. Nice of my husband not to mind that I could escape when he had to stay home and work.

I’m so glad to hear that your cases are falling. And great that you got a break and some time with your girls.

Yes, it was a wonderful time, both with the girls and without them. 🙂
