Riffing on family holidays. In early 2006, the Big T’s company needed him in Paris for a week, so the boy-child and I tagged along (as you do).
A visit to Sacré-Cœur took us past streets lined with shops selling beautiful fabrics. I was in heaven — the boys, not so much
We are certainly getting about on your retrospective travels! Very enjoyable.

Have you been to India? I imagine the textiles there would be heaven for you.

I haven’t. I love mooching around the various shops in Auckland that sell sari lengths, etc but visiting India has never appealed to me.

I wasn’t that fond of India I have to say.

Ah, Paris!
I am surprised the boys didn’t go plant themselves at a cafe while you browsed ….

I think the boy-child was already full of ice-cream (he was 8 and seemed determined to try every ice-cream shop in Paris), and T had spent most of his time in work meetings, so it would have been very poor form to abandon him when we only had a couple of days left.

True true!
I like boy-child’s determination.

I bet you were in seventh heaven, Su. I always loved the linens in Provence and, of course, the lavender.

Yes; put me in an area of textile merchants and I’m a very happy girl.

I remember the district well. I bought the lace to make my daughter’s wedding dress there.

I could have shopped all day, but then would have had to drag my finds back to NZ 🙂 And I suspect my boys wouldn’t have been too impressed.

I must admit I’m a bit of a fabric junkie…

Aaaahhh! We almost went this week. We had to cancel after the UK put France on the quarantine list. Hope to make it there one day! Did you have a good time?

We did!! The Big T and I visited Paris quite often when we lived in the UK, but that was the first time we’d gone with our son.
