Thank you my friend. Iβd probably be pretty gloomy too, perched on a bare, windy incredibly smelly rock face surrounded by thousands of other squawking expectant parents! π€£
Oh, my, what an expression! She appears to be ready to take on all comers…or ready to push out another egg. π You could enter this in today’s Lens Artists challenge which is “symmetry.” What a pretty bird!
Thanks Janet. Given the size of the colony and itβs location on a very bare, wind-swept cliff, parenting is an act of complete determination. Oh and did I mention the noise and the smell β though theyβre probably more an issue for visiting humans π
Amazing image Su. I visited a colony in NZ and know exactly what you mean about the noise and smell. It only makes it more wonderful that you were able to capture one bird. his expression is priceless and the light is perfection. I truly love this one.
That is wonderful. I really like the direct approach and the muted colours, of course.

What a cutie! Love that sharp contrast with the dark background and the smooth, creamy latte brown at the top of the birdβs head.

Awww! Gannet season again!! π Beautiful shot, Su! He/she looks quite gloomy but that could just be me interpreting things that aren’t there! π

If you put it like this, I’m surprised it doesn’t look even more gloomy! π

Thank you Lois. I was really pleased to get a photo of a single gannet β there are several thousand in the colony, all quite closely packed together
