Brian at Bushboy’s World had the fun idea of posting the last photo of each month, without editing or explanation. It’s such a simple idea and seems to be appealing to more and more of us.
I don’t use my phone camera much, but I did have it to hand when I was working on some new alcohol ink experiments.
The rules for Brian’s challenge are simple:
1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 30th September.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do
4. Create a Pingback to Brian’s post or link in the comments
5. Tag “The Last Photo”
I like them both, Su. Welcome to October and may it be a wonderful month for you.

What great last images Su 🙂 the little red heart is so precious. Did you inky alcohol experiments work as you wanted?

Thank you Brian.
I’m having fun playing with the inks. At this point I have very little control (scary for a control-freak like me), but I’m happy with everything I’ve done so far. Of course, I keep looking at them and thinking “well next time, I’ll … “

Such a lovely heart – one of yours I imagine? And I love your experimentation – never heard of alcohol inks. I wonder if vodka with a dash of food colouring would work 🙄

Thanks Jude.
Now you’ve got me thinking. It would be an interesting experiment, especially as you’d only need a little bit of the vodka to actually make inks.
Seriously though — food colouring and isopropyl alcohol are meant to do the job.

So which is the last!? 🙂

The top one was the last on my camera: the bottom one on my phone. Maybe taken an hour or so apart

Thanks Leslie. It’s quite small, and I’m practicing the techniques so I can make a larger work to hang.

It’s well worth the effort Su….

I don’t know what those blue and gold hued blobs are supposed to be but I love your photo! Can I steal it, print it, and hang it in my house? It will go fabulously in my living room.

Thanks. They’re meant to be blue and gold blobs, so I guess I succeeded. I’m playing with alcohol inks (I know that sounds like a drinking game, but so far, it’s not).
Feel free to steal it, as long as you tell everyone who admires it about the amazing Kiwi woman (that’s me) who puts alcohol onto paper, not her mouth.
It’s not a very high-res photo though, so if you’re serious email me and I’ll send you a better one.

I’ll send an email…if I can find it on your page. I lack finesse sometimes in technological spheres.

Case in point, I inadvertently sent myself an email of this very blog post! But found your email address when I ‘followed you.’ I’m now officially your fan/stalker.

I think you are right! We have worked with Aqualine inks before – I wonder if they are similar.
