These flowers were all over where I lived in California. I hated living there but it was a truly beautiful place. The sunraises and sunsets, the ocean and mountains…all the plant life. I loved seeing hundreds of hummingbirds everyday.
I love those flowers so much. If I’m ever indecently rich, I plan to move somewhere where they grow natively and plant a ring around my new, luscious garden!

I have a photo somewhere of a bird of paradise and it is extraordinarily similar. Love this flower, always makes me think of Cape Town.

Quite a few African plants grow well here; agapanthus and birds of paradise being amongst my favourites.
