I love those little ‘islands’ or in this case, safety boats of goodness. Books to read, put there by ‘pre-readers’ who share their love with the next passing book lover. I’ve seen mini-libraries everywhere and I think it’s a marvellous thing to share. Small space – Big joy.
Totally agree. I love that I’m seeing more and more of these little oases. We’re going to start carrying our surplus books in our cars so we can give and take from the little libraries we find 😀
Love it. And only a few weeks back I grabbed my copy of Eco’s Foucault’s Pendulum and piled it on top of my TBR pile. I’ve been wanting to read that tome for years! Maybe this will do it. Thank you Su for sharing. 🙂
This is a good-sized library! We have one down the street and I have started sorting through my books and helping to keep it filled. I love driving around and finding these little libraries–such a variety at each stop.
😀 based on the books in that little library, I want to move to Port Waikato 😉 I once bought a house based (ok, partly) on the content of the owners’ book-shelves, and that worked out.
I love these little libraries and was hoping to have one of our own. So far that hasn’t happened, but maybe one of these days. I did finally get to Half Price Books, though, the other day, a great bookstore that buys as well as sells. Hadn’t been to one in well over a year and I managed to find a few things. 🙂 Of course they weren’t free, but I found two Rosemary Sutcliff books I didn’t have, which was great and also a couple books of scenic drives in Arizona. I’m ready to do more exploring!!
Yay for good book shops. We bought the boy-child some vintage travel books about NZ for Xmas to inspire him. Hopefully you will be able to get out and explore soon.
Wow.
2021 has begun well for me – just published my first book – 4 Pillars of Abundant Life
I wish and pray that 2021 is great for you too. Do check out the book Su 😊

Yay. I haven’t read it for years, and am a bit overdue. Have you read The Name of the Rose?

About twenty years ago and just got a copy of it for Christmas so will reread it soon. 😉

Wonderful! I love these mini-libraries but this one wins on both appearance and contents

Isn’t it cool. You’d probably guessed it’s in a small seaside community with a great surf beach.

I like the idea of these mini-libraries and hope that it will catch on and spread to other places where libraries are few and far between.

I love them too, and am so happy to see more and more popping up here.

I always check out the little libraries I see when I’m traveling, but I confess, I haven’t visited the one in my neighbourhood.

Actually, that’s a fairly good size compared to the one we have here on the coroner.
Goo dot pass those book along.

It’s larger than the one we have locally too; but it does serve a rural community.

I always look inside if I pass one of these. They’re not very common where I live, but we do have a decent public library.

I think these small gems are on a par with quirky secondhand bookstores. Both fun to visit and see what’s available.

I love the idea. It is so simple, and they seem to be popping up all over the place which is fabulous.
