For anyone who knows me, it will be no surprise that I’ve chosen images of sculptures for this week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge on the theme of curve. If there is anything unexpected here, it’s that I’ve been so restrained in the number of images chosen.

It’s difficult to convey the scale of Anish Kapoor’s ‘Dismemberment, Site 1. The work is 85 metres long (278 feet); a steel and fabric tube whose ends are 25 metres x 8 metres (82 feet x 26 feet). It literally sits between two hills on a vast rural estate facing the Kaipara Harbour.

Of course size isn’t everything. Potter Rod Davies creates domestic-scale ceramic works; many of which are based on curving forms. ‘Ocean Swell’ is one of my favourites.

Truly awesome images. They speak.

🙂 Four times! That will teach me to cut and paste though.

OMG, Congratulations on being showcased on “Discover!” You truly deserve it, I’ve enjoyed watching your talent blossom tremendously over the last few years. These incredible shots of The Sculpture By The Sea are just a small taste of all your many amazing posts. Kudos. I’m so proud of and for you. ❤

I’m glad. This reminds me, (honest, I’ve been meaning to ask) may I share some of your work on my Amandaslives twitter feed? If no, that’s cool. 🙂

No problem 🙂

Seriously, if you would rather not, that’s totally fine. Am I paranoid or do I sense real hesitation? 🙂

Not hesitation at all 🙂 I’m doing about a million things at once here, trying to clear the backlog of likes/follows/comments that the “Discover” post has generated. AND I’m trying to get used to using a standing desk which I got yesterday because I hurt my back and can’t sit down. It’s making me a bit terse, not in a grumpy way, just typing fewer words is easier as I don’t have to stand for so long. And on top of that I’m trying to compose a post to explain my totally random blogging lately (due to not being able to work normally) and it’s not going well. So it really is no problem. Honest. 🙂

lol Oh dear and I just made you type out this long explanation. Sorry! Hope your back is better soon. I’m going to try a stand up desk too! So I hope it’s not too awful. 🙂

🙂 Standing desks rock!!! Mine is a very basic version. Stylish but without the mechanics that raise and lower it. My other half made it for me over the weekend. I can see the attraction of the bells-and-whistles version, but I can move away from my desk and do some non-computer work in other places so the fixed height isn’t such a problem. And I’m finding it a lot easier than I expected. 🙂

Great! Then I will proceed with my plans! thanks 🙂

That’s exactly what I want-to be able to move away more easily. not be so trapped at my desk. 🙂

Great composition and color. I admire the way the misty backdrop complements the clean lines of the sculpture.
