Detergent spill at a beach sadly. We found it in a little cove near where we live. It was fairly confined, but pretty horrible nevertheless. I’ve always felt a bit ambivalent about the photos I took. Visually they are pretty cool, but it’s hard to celebrate pollution
There was a local beach clean-up in our neighbourhood recently. The volume and type of rubbish collected was staggering. And there is only so much volunteers can do 😟
Thank you Susan. A lot of luck really. There was a patch of beach that had obviously had detergent spilled. The waves had foamed it and there were thousands of little coloured bubbles.
Oh, I know this shot from your blog headers but didn’t know of the sad story behind it. I can see why you felt a bit ambivalent about this shot, Su, but it’s a very beautiful one. Xxxxxxx
I was walking on the same beach recently, and the rock pools, which used to be so alive when I was a kid, are utterly barren now. I get so cross with the casual way we are squandering this beautiful country 😦 xxxxxxx
That’s a gorgeous capture of those bubbles. Love the reflection in every bubble. What’s the story behind this photo?

Thanks Amy. Detergent spill at a beach 😦 Interesting to photograph, but I’d prefer not to have seen it.

Oh, yuck. Yes, we get there here also. That and all the plastic that floats in at high tide make me very sad.

So awful what we’ve done to this planet.

I love this. I can’t imagine how you did it, but it’s brilliant in more ways than one.
