I imagine catching a glimpse of Mt Taranaki is as exciting & illusive as Mt Fuji! A lucky day to catch one!

It is a bit like that. And interestingly, Mt Taranaki has played “stunt double” for Mt Fuji in at least one Hollywood movie — The Last Samurai.

Most of our mountains have a career in the film industry — mostly LOTR and The Hobbit though. 😂

I think Peter Jackson was so inspired in how he used your beautiful mountains in these wonderful movies. Sigh …. now I want to go back and watch them again (I used to have an annual viewing of LOTR … haven’t done that in a few years).

😀 the director of photography on the LOTR films was brilliant. Sadly he died a few years ago — only in his 50s ☹️
