Ah ha, you are a fellow “Lady of the Lupins”. They reseed themselves and I still have some blooming in our garden this very moment. Aren’t they lovely!

I think the council or dept of conservation has done a mass planting of them at Te Henga to help stop the sand dunes eroding. They’ll look amazing in a few days when most of the flowers are in bloom.
Oh, how lovely — I hope you’ll post a photo of them when they are in full bloom. Ours are mostly purple, some bush lupines too, and mostly wild or used as roadside plantings.

These are at the beach I visited a few days ago. I have been thinking of planting some at home though.

What a lovely colour.

Isn’t it. There are thousands of them in the dunes; deliberately planted to stop erosion maybe?

Love the yellow lupine — they are relatively rare here!

Another flower I love but can’t grow in our climate. They bring back memories of the English childhood

They seem to be using them as erosion control on the dunes; or maybe soil-building for other species?

Indeed. I think that is why sunflowers are popular.
