It’s been too long since the Big T and I had a “proper” holiday, and wanderlust has definitely set in.
Perhaps a return trip to Tahiti, where we enjoyed a week with our boy-child when he was still young enough to want to holiday with his folks.
Wine, pool, sunset, views. Yep, ticks all the boxes. Le Meridien, Punaauia, Tahiti. Image: Su Leslie, 2011.

Mellow is a not a word that I’d use to describe myself. Even on the most peaceful tropical holiday, I’m the photographer — always on the move — rather than the one relaxing by the lagoon. Perhaps I should take lessons from my cat.

Or listen to more music. The title of this post comes from the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
This week’s Travel Theme at Where’s My Backpack is mellow. You can see Ailsa’s photos here.
Even on an overcast day, the Pacific Island of Tahiti is the place of my dreams. This is the island of Mo’orea seen from the beach at Punaauia, Tahiti. Photo: Su Leslie, 2010.
This post was written for the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge. It was tempting to offer a shot of Tahitian bure in a golden sunset, but in many ways the day we spent exploring a stretch of coastline at Punaauia in the rain is more memorable and more embedded in my dreams. Tahiti is a magical, dreamy place to which I will return one day.

It’s cold this morning; ugg boot cold. So I have quite mixed feelings about Sue’s Word a Week being “tropical.”
On one hand, I look out of the window and see two or three more months of winter; on the other hand it is nice to remember the last time I had a tropical holiday – in Tahiti almost three years ago.
As there is no tropical escape on the horizon for me; today is about dreaming.
