I’m in need of distraction at the moment. The last few weeks have left me feeling adrift in a slightly leaky boat, buffeted by the waves of others’ moods and problems. So anything that provokes a smile is very welcome in my life. I just didn’t expect it to come in the form of tiny plastic Smurfs!
One of the petrol chains is obviously doing some Smurf-related promo, and is handing out these little toys at the checkout — one for every forty dollars spent on gas.
I know it looks like I must drive an awful lot, but yesterday my (very) modest Smurf collection got a huge boost when the attendant made a mistake with my transaction and handed over some bonus toys by way of apology. Yes, I had already admitted that I was collecting them!
The little people are currently engaged in a road-trip photo shoot round an out-of-date calendar. And not entirely enjoying themselves by the look of it.
I do like your Smurfery for a smile, Su!

Haha! Love these shots! Especially the one with Azrael planning something evil 😉 I´m sorry that life´s still throwing things at you and hope there will be more Smurf moments to calm the waves a little and make you smile. You certainly make me smile and laugh with these cuties! Thank you! xxxxxxxxx

Thank you. I didn’t even know the Smurfs had names and back-stories and stuff. I am so not the Smurf generation. And the boy-child wasn’t either! I do love the cat and the evil guy. I’ve actually got two of him now, so I need to concoct a little story about two crazy evil Smurf nemesis clones …. Ah, small pleasures! 😃 hope your week is going well. xxxx

Oh, then there´s a lot for you to discover! There´s a little TV series which I loved to watch as a child!
I would soooo love to read that story about the evil Azrael clones – it sounds hilarious already! 😀 That´s a small pleasure that might evolve into something bigger 😉
Have a lovely day, Su! xxxxxxx

I can’t believe Smurfs are back. I wonder if my grandsons know about them. And it sounds like you are still dealing with some bad stuff. 😦

I think there might be a smurf movie out or something? And sadly the bad stuff isn’t going away as quickly as we’d hoped, so now we’re adjusting to a new reality. The plus side is that it’s making the Big T and I stronger together (so far, anyway).

So it’s the Big T? Not your son? Whatever it is, I hope things do improve.

Golly, this takes me back! Petrol stations in South Africa gave away Smurf toys back in the 1970’s/80s. I may even have a couple still.

Hehe. And now a whole new generation is enjoying them (she says, being totally not of the “new generation”)

I’m definitely between smurf waves. Aware of them, but never the right demographic to actually understand what it’s all about. 🙂

What a fun little boost to your day. My middle boy always managed to get at least one of every happy meal toy when he was young. It would start innocently enough with a, “Mom, they gave me the girl toy,” or something like that. He would go up to the counter and because he was so sweet, adorable, and quiet, they would usually give him one of everything. His older brother was always jealous, but too tentative to go up to the counter. The funny thing is that my middle boy is the shyest of all my children – but in this one instance, he is okay with speaking up.

The boy-child was never that interested in promotional give-aways. And we never went to MacDonalds, so Happy Meal toys were all a bit foreign to him. He did go through crazes with other collectables — the kind you have to pay for, but at least you know what you’re getting!!!

Thanks 🙂 I can’t believe how much fun I got out of a few plastic toys.
