The Arapuni Suspension Bridge was built in the late 1920s so that workers building the Arapuni Hydro Dam could get from the construction site to their accommodation in the village.
These days it’s part of the Waikato River Trails walk and cycle way.

I’m feeling a little dizzy now, but thanks for your great six words and perfect-match-images. Have a good weekend

Oh my goodness. What a shot of the bridge. It’s giving me a twinge of vertigo just to look. So yes. Well done those bolts and cables. Phew!

Have you walked on this bridge? Just thinking about it makes my stomach flip!

We walked it yesterday. It was actually quite steady β especially compared to others Iβve walked on.

It’s beautiful. Crossing these types of bridges is a lot of fun…and a bit scary (which makes them fun).

Oh, my. That looks a long way down. I’m not a huge fan of bridges that sway when you walk on them.

π it was way more steady than I expected. But certainly a long way down.

That is one stunning & frankly terrifying bridge! Better you than I!

π it was less scary than I expected. The tension cables running vertically hold it quite steady.

When I look at the rusty and worn-out parts I wonder if the bridge is still safe. Great photos, Su!

IΒ΄ve mighty respect – and a little bit of fear – for suspension bridges. And ever since watching The Temple of Doom (Indiana Jones) I promised myself to have a look around for Thugs whorshipping Kali before I would venture across it. π This one looks fabulous, with all those lovely trees surrounding it. Love the detailed shots of the bolt and cables! xxxxx

Hehe. I think Indiana Jones would just become exasperated with all the mountain bikers and annoying, shouty kids ππ xxxxxx
