Kudos on catching the light at just the right time. Speaking of time, I always feel I’m losing it when I see your Sunday post when we still have a fair bit of Saturday left. π I hope your weekend’s been an excellent on and continues to be.
π … and I posted particularly early as we were going to be on the road all day and I wasnβt sure when weβd get home (or how tired Iβd be). Weβve had a lovely weekend; exploring the Hokianga Harbour area. Hope your weekend is going well too.
I know what you mean. The sand dunes are increasingly covered with bush; good thing in terms of erosion, but what left in sand does look a lot prettier.
I wouldn’t complain either! Always nice to have a spur of the moment time out. We should do it more often. No holiday again this year, though living where we do can seem like being on a permanent holiday π
We spent some time in a little place called Rawene, which is very picturesque (though a bit isolated), has a couple of great cafes, a library, doctor and basic amenities and where it seemed that everyone had a thriving garden with lots of lush looking veges and even bananas. I did think that living there would feel like a permanent holiday. Then I remembered how congested the main street gets in summer. There is a car ferry from Rawene which provides the fastest way north from that area, and it is manic for much of the year with tourists. Sigh.
Loved the flash of sunshine!

Amazing how you captured the sunrays breaking through the dense cloud cover onto the distant sand dunes, Su!

Yes: we were lucky to have a hotel room directly across the harbour, so we could enjoy them in different light.

Almost like gold at the end of the rainbow, without the rainbow, of course.

Well captured! A sliver of sunlight in that rather overcast sky. Another nice weekend away? π

Thanks Jude. Yes; an impromptu trip up north. T has been crazy busy with work recently and really needed a break. And of course, I wasn’t complaining!

Sounds a bit like St Ives! The only time we go into the town is in the winter months.

Thanks. We were treated to two days of ever-changing but always spectacular views of the dunes from our hotel room.
