With the start of daylight saving, it is beginning to feel like summer is just around the corner. Time to do some spring cleaning and de-cluttering. We have so much stuff, and it would be nice to find ways to better appreciate (or get rid of) it.
Of course it’s also the time of year for evening walks, visits to the night markets and street food for dinner.
Boys and their trucks – just go together.

I am also struggling with the 40-year accumulation of junk. One needs to detach oneself from the emotional attachment and have the courage to sell it off, give it away or dump it. Have a great weekend, Su!

Have you read Marie Kondo’s “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”? It talks about understanding the emotional attachment we get to things, and that can help de-clutter. I am really due to read it again 😀

Interesting book! Is available for the Kindle reader?

I’m not sure. I’m very old-school about liking paper books.

I’m old enough now that I can start to pass things on to great-nephews and great-nieces so I can decipher but not feel like I’m just tossing stuff.
Every morning I wake to daylight in the early morning, I cry a little about the return of darkness when the clocks go forward tomorrow even if it does mean more daylight at the end of the day.

I don’t even have nieces and nephews to give stuff too!!!! Know what you mean about daylight saving. I love light in the mornings.

Nice images. I used to have a nice collection of toy trucks and bulldozers as a child. Mmmm, I like food truck food. Cheers!

I have read the book and have done some decluttering but still have quite a distance to go. Books are the most difficult. They seem to cling to my hands when I try to get rid of them. As for daylight savings time, I can never remember when we’re saving and when we’re not.

I liked the book, but thought she completely missed the point of books. I wondered if it’s because Japanese homes are very small and they literally don’t have space for books. 😀

You could be right. Space for books is one of the most important things in any home we have! 🙂 The other problem is if you have lots of things that bring you joy/that you love.

I am not a pack rat by any stretch of the imagination. Gilles and I are both pretty brutal about purging stuff … and yet it still has a miraculous way of accumulating.
We’ve recently started discussions about selling our home and moving after being here for over 25 years. Already I’m going into keep-purge mode in prep for hopefully packing in the near future. It is oddly freeing 🙂

I have definitely started to acquire more stuff lately. Mostly old stuff that my parents are giving me, and antique-y things I just like having around.
We have been talking about selling forever and periodically purge our stuff in preparation. But somehow the move doesn’t happen. I guess the universe is telling us we aren’t quite ready.
Good luck with your big change. Do you plan to relocate, or just to a different house in the same area?

We would be relocating – probably not within Toronto, but within the surrounding area.
What I can’t tell is whether Gilles is just humouring me and has no real intention of actually moving. Things may get interesting 😉
