Oh this is such fun. My engineer niece would love this to bits. She is ‘Madam Engineer’ at steampunk gatherings – goes clad in corset set off with a set of very large spanners and binoculars.

How fab!! I love how steampunk is so gender-role fluid.

A great image Su. I like a bit of steam punk too.

It seems that every regional town in NZ is getting on the Steampunk wagon. The airship was part of a festival earlier in the year.

I’m not into steampunk, but I did like the Hamilton Gardens 😀

I couldn’t get into all the dressing up, but I do like the aesthetic. There is a new garden at Hamilton, based on the Katherine Mansfield story “The Garden Party.” It looks fabulous, but it was soooo busy when we were there I don’t get any good photos of it.

How eye catching, do you think they are just trying to hide the weeds in their garden?

Hehe. It’s in a public garden. They are developing some new “concept” Gardens, and maybe steampunk is one of them.

Oh! Sooo cool! Totally love this shot and the editing is fab, Su! Really have a very soft spot for Steampunk and dream of dressing up with those lovely corsages and awesome accessories. Maybe one day… 😄 xxxxxx

😀 thank you. Steampunk seems to have really taken off here, with a least two small towns holding really quite big Steampunk festivals each year. T really likes the idea of us dressing up, but I’m not crazy about corsets these days. I’d have to invent a slightly androgynous character for myself — one that can wear comfortable clothes 😂😂

I’d love to visit those festivals! And I’m sure there are much more comfortable outfits that still are true to the steampunk look. Just add some fun brass goggles and a nice hat. 😉

🙂 You are probably right. I was thinking a kind of “Lady Professor” look. I love the old-style dress shirts and waistcoats. We can add Steampunk Festival to the list of things we’ll visit. You are planning to stay a while aren’t you? 🙂

Happy New Year, Su!!! 😀
Wishing you lots of joy, peace and creativity to look forward to! 😀
Waistcoats are wonderful, you could also wear one of those gorgeous top hats, I think they look great on women too!
And we´re definitely adding the Steampunk Festival to that list! 😉 I´d say half a year should do the trick, right? Hehe! 😉 xxxxxxx
